A fireproof faith, the heartbreaking massacre of a pastoral family in Colombia
It was noon on Sunday, December 29, last year, when the pastoral family Lora Rincón, spiritual leaders of the ministry "Prince of Peace" in that municipality, were having lunch on a commercial terrace. Suddenly, a motorcycle interrupted the scene, and with repeated gunshots, took the lives of the family—except for the youngest son, who would pass away hours later due to the severity of his injuries (according to sources).
Unaware of the tragic event they would face, the daughter of this family had recited a sermon in her congregation hours earlier, encouraging the audience to "focus on the things above," meaning to prioritize the kingdom of God above all else.
In a world where tolerance, respect, and above all, love for one another are scarce, this family—like many other pastoral families, not only in Colombia but worldwide—was willing to spread the message of love and salvation, even at the cost of their lives. These kinds of acts must stop.
However, I invite you not to let this vile massacre discourage us from sharing the message of salvation. Instead, remember that we are blessed when we are persecuted for His sake, for great is our reward in heaven (Matthew 5:11). I am certain the Lora Rincón family is now receiving that reward. My condolences to this family.
